We
appreciate that for most pet owners, having their pet put to sleep
is a difficult and heart-breaking experience. We try to make this
experience less painful to bear by carrying it out in the home surrroundings,
where you can grieve in privacy, and where your pet will feel less
distressed.
Euthanasia is done by the administration of a deliberately large
dose of anaesthetic injection which is given in to a vein. Within
seconds, the pet becomes unconscious and shortly after it hearts
stops beating. The animal is then dead. The giving of the intra-venous
injection requires the skill and care of a veterinary surgeon and
nurse, particularly where it is to an old or collapsed animal whose
blood pressure is likely to be low.
Once your pet has been put to sleep, we can then proceed with the
aftercare of its body. The choice for most pet owners is one of
the following: Burial in the garden or some other special place
such as a pet cemetary; Removal of the body and cremation with other
pets; Removal of the body and arrangement of an individual cremation. |
